Back in 2000, and long before the fixed wheel ‘fake-ingers’ became the East London street staple, Caspar Hughes and Paul ‘Winston’ Churchill had already been enjoying this most stripped-down means of riding the road for some time, though purely as a matter of necessity, what with it being the simplest and most effective means of courier efficiency. Utilising what has recently become a huge surge of interest in this sudden new cycling cool, these two ideally placed couriers of yore, Caspar and Winston started Rollapaluza—the now world-market leaders in roller racing.

Now while a lot of urban sports can be described as ‘fiercely competitive’, I could not believe how the racers go at it on a Rolla event—word has spread throughout the cycling community everywhere and Rollapaluza events are buzzing with the fastest racers, pumping drum and bass, bellowing shouts from competitors egging on their teams, friends, countrymen and rivals with the never-far-away bar always busy too, as an essential and ever-present element is the fun.
