HELLO PASTY
I’m from New England, and despite being the closest part of the American mainland to Great Britain, New England lost most of its Queen-inspired flair over the years. It took a bit of overseas traveling before I experienced any real English culture, but it took a trip to the American Southwest to experience the Cornish pasty.
What the hell is a Cornish pasty? To the uninitiated, a pasty could easily be mistaken for a calzone, an Italian-inspired treat us Americans have transitioned to high school cafeterias, pizza parlors and microwaves. Aside from its self-contained nature, a pasty has very little to do with its Italian second cousin. And you don’t say it like ‘pasty’ as in ‘pale’: this ‘pasty’ rhymes

Vintage BMX has become all the rage—just search eBay for anything related to “Hutch BMX” or “Hutch Trickstar” and you’ll find your wallet running for the hills. BMX racing, which was influenced early on by motocross racing, was, in its heyday, a sport of outcasts and hooligans. Kids that wanted to go fast and break out of the mold. A Leica the iPhone camera is not, but on the fly it can make for some great images, especially with the newly added focus points of the 3Gs model and a few apps to polish a turd. My favorite polishers include Camera Bag and Old Camera. Both are filters which aid in turning otherwise lifeless, flat photos into something a bit more magical. Old Camera gives users a selection of monochromatic options, while Camera Bag has everything from Lomo and Holga looks, to 70s style color. Are iPhones the new Polaroid cameras?
